I posted the following parody to rec.music.beatles, in reference to a certain series of annoying (in my opinion... which is the only one I've got) TV commercials that (ab)used the song "Imagine". Though the parody may be amusing, my sentiments are serious. Even before they used "Imagine" for their phony campaign, I ridiculed them for grandstanding during the Holidays. Not only have they been limiting their contributions to the Holiday Season for a number of years, but they also put a ceiling on the total. Not to mention the fact that the advertising probably costs them more than they actually end up "giving" to charity. Seems to me that they'd do a lot more good if they contributed a percentage of sales directly to charity... on a year-round basis.
Okay, so I think that's enough context for my song parody...

We'll give the poor a dime!". Imagine AMEX giving... Each and every day... You may say I'm a cynic. Oh that very well may be. But if AMEX were truly "giving"... We would not hear about it on TV. -- (Joe@Home) mailto:joepalen@cts.com (Joe@Play) http://www.users.cts.com/sd/j/joepalen |
