As a child, The Beatles inspired me to play guitar. In my teens, I wrote my first songs. And then I rushed to the studio to record my debut album... at the age of 48.
The album's title was "It's Never Too Late", until I found a note I’d written to myself 17 years earlier, instructing me to name my first album “Subject to Change”. Being a big fan of irony, I took that advice.
Please don't be alarmed by the sparse effects and instruments on these recordings. My goal in the studio was to simulate my live coffeehouse performances by just singing, playing acoustic guitar, and minimizing human interaction. -- Joe Palen
